The certificate is valid for 2 years. Before the expiration date, it is necessary to take the HERTM Further course to keep the credentials valid.

Who is the Course Aimed At?

This training is designed for individuals currently appointed as HERTM who need to refresh their certificate.

 

Course Goal

The goal of this course is to refresh the participants’ knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of an emergency response team member by practicing various emergency scenarios that may occur on an oil and gas platform or a vessel with a helideck.

 

Training Description 

HERTM training is an intensive program for those developing skills to manage emergency situations involving helicopters. The training covers emergency evacuation, firefighting techniques, effective communication skills, including helicopter handling commands. The training also focuses on the use of breathing apparatus, search and rescue of casualties, and effective use of firefighting systems. Through both practical and theoretical components, participants are prepared to operate effectively in the dynamic environment of offshore oil and gas platforms.

 

Qualifications Obtained

● Effective entry and evacuation from the helicopter in emergency situations

● Clear, concise, and effective communication with leader and team members during emergency operations.

● Reporting the current situation to the leader in accordance with the crisis response plan.

● Proper selection of firefighting equipment according to the leader's instructions.

● Effective response to emergency situations.

● Controlled approach to the incident area under the leader's guidance.

● Constant assessment of the emergency situation and its impact on the safety of other members of the emergency response team.

● Effective performance of tasks related to responding to crisis situations.

● Responding to helicopter engine fires using an extended CO2 applicator.

● Proper donning and use of breathing apparatus according to the leader's instructions.

● Application of principles and techniques for effective search and rescue.

● Locating, extracting, and dealing with missing persons and victims in the helicopter area.

● Effective use of fixed, portable, and mobile firefighting systems.

● Reaction to NUI control room fires with limited firefighting equipment.

 

Confirmation of Course Completion

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate approved by the international organization OPITO, which authorizes them to work on offshore installations in the oil and gas industry.
