- Valid offshore medical certificate (OGUK)
- Valid certificate:
● OPITO Helideck Operations Initial Training (HOIT) or Offshore Helicopter Assistant (HDA) or Offshore Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO)*
● OPITO Helideck Emergency Response Team Member (HERTM) or Helideck Emergency Response Team Member Further
● Radio Operator Competence Certificate (ROCC) – UKCS Operations only
or
● Valid certificate of Dangerous Goods by Air training course in accordance with Part 1 of the ICAO Technical Instructions and sub section 1.5 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (functions 7.2, 7.4 and 7.5, previously categories 7, 8 or 9) or state aviation approved dangerous goods awareness training course
*Note!
If the delegate holds a valid HERTM, HERTM-Further, HERTL or HERTL-Further certificate, the completion of the initial Helideck operations training standard will not be required.
- Valid Identification document
The HERTL certificate is valid for 2 years. Before the expiration date, it is necessary to take the HERTL Further training to keep the credentials valid.
Who is the Course Aimed At?
This training is designed for individuals who will be appointed as Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader (HERTL).
Course Goal
The goal of this course is to develop participants' key skills and knowledge in responding to helicopter landing deck emergencies. This includes skills in team leadership during emergency situation simulations, addressing human factors and specific constraints related to Normally Unmanned Installations (NUI).
Training Description
Emergency response training for helicopter landing decks emphasizes key skills in planning and responding to various emergency situations. Participants will gain knowledge on handling emergencies specific to NUI and understand the roles of the HERTL and the emergency response team on the landing deck.
Training Description
- Understanding the importance of initial planning and the main elements of emergency response requirements on helicopter landing decks.
- Emphasizing the value of both land-based training and sea exercises for effective emergency response.
- Learning about the requirements and functionalities of different types of emergency response and control systems.
- Recognizing how limited emergency response capabilities on NUI impact crisis management on helicopter landing decks.
- Understanding the roles and responsibilities of both HERTL and the emergency response team on the landing deck during a helicopter-related emergency.
- Addressing human factors in emergency situations and exploring strategies for effective management.
- Leading the Emergency Response Team through a series of simulated emergency situations on the helicopter landing deck, including live fire exercises, in a safe and controlled environment.
Confirmation of Course Completion
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate approved by the international organization OPITO, which authorizes them to work on offshore installations in the oil and gas industry.
