Who is the Course Aimed At?
This course is designed for individuals working in the offshore wind industry or related fields and who need to refresh their qualifications.
Training Description
1. First Aid
This course provides participants with basic first aid knowledge and skills. During the training, participants will learn how to secure a scene and intervene in critical situations, such as stopping massive hemorrhages, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), using an AED and dressing injuries. Practical scenarios will prepare participants to provide first aid in prolonged rescue operations and address the specific challenges encountered in a wind turbine environment.
2. Fire Awareness
This course provides fundamental knowledge of fire safety, including fire prevention. The module covers both theoretical aspects, such as fire groups, the combustion quadrangle, fire formation, and fire spread, as well as practical training in fire fighting scenarios using portable fire extinguishing equipment and evacuation in smoke conditions.
3. Working at Height
This course provides comprehensive training for safely working at height using industrial access equipment. The training includes both discussion and practical exercises, such as use of fall protection equipment, evacuation procedures with rescue equipment and scenarios involving the rescue of an injured person from a ladder.
4. Manual Handling
This course provides basic knowledge of safe manual labor, particularly focusing on load handling, use of hand tools, and performing work in constrained positions, along with associated hazards. Participants will learn methods of dynamic risk assessment and apply these methods through simulation scenarios.
5. Sea Survival
This course provides both theoretical and practical knowledge of offshore personnel transfer and emergency response or operations aboard vessels and wind turbines located offshore. The theoretical part of the course covers hazards and the control measures used in the wind industry. In the practical part, which takes place in the swimming pool, participants apply the knowledge they have gained by practicing transfer and evacuation procedures, as well as techniques to increase their chances of survival at sea.
Course Goal
The goal of this course is to refresh participants’ knowledge and skills to work safely and responsibly in challenging environments. This includes the ability to identify and minimize risks, properly use personal protective equipment, and perform emergency procedures to protect themselves and their colleagues.
Qualifications Obtained
- GWO BST First Aid Refresher (FAR)
- GWO BST Fire Awareness Refresher (FAWR)
- GWO BST Working at Height Refresher (WAHR)
- GWO BST Manual Handling Refresher (MHR)
- GWO BST Sea Survival Refresher (SSR).
Confirmation of Course Completion
The training completion information will be entered as a new record in the GWO WINDA database. This allows employers to easily verify the credentials of their employees, helping to maintain high safety standards in the industry. Participants can also easily prove their qualifications globally without needing to carry paper certificates.
Please note that some companies may require additional or specialized certification to meet their internal competency standards. Vulcan Training strongly recommends checking specific competency or training requirements with the operator before booking a course. While Vulcan can provide guidance on general certification requirements for various geographic regions, additional training may be necessary based on local or company-specific guidelines.
