Dedicated Course:

This comprehensive course is designed for personnel working in the wind industry or related fields. It is tailored to those who perform tasks that involve first aid, fire safety, working at heights, sea survival, and manual handling, ensuring they are fully prepared to handle the unique challenges of such environments.

Description of the Training

This comprehensive course combines five essential safety training modules tailored for those working in the wind industry:

1. First Aid:

Provides essential first aid knowledge and skills, covering emergency response, injury assessment, and practical skills such as CPR and wound management. It includes managing first aid incidents in a wind turbine environment, addressing bleeding, burns, chemical contacts to the eyes, medical emergencies like heart attacks and strokes, hypothermia, fractures, and performing a head-to-toe examination.

2. Fire Awareness:

Offers fundamental knowledge about fire safety, including fire prevention, the use of fire extinguishers, and emergency response procedures. The module covers types of fires, the fire triangle, fire spread, fire gases, emergency planning, classes of fires, fire hazards, and preventive measures.

3. Working at Height:

Provides comprehensive theoretical and practical training on working safely at heights, using personal protective equipment, and performing rescue operations. It includes fall protection systems, correct harness attachment, allowable maximum angles, anchorage points, pre-use inspection, and practical exercises with fall arrest systems, fall prevention, and rescue operations. Participants will engage in real-life simulations to practice emergency procedures and safe working techniques.

4. Sea Survival:

Equips participants with essential survival skills for marine environments, including the use of survival equipment, first aid at sea, and emergency evacuation procedures. This module covers safety culture, cold water immersion, thermal shock, hypothermia, drowning, sea sickness, contaminated water, life-saving appliances, GMDSS systems, distress signals, and practical sea survival exercises.

5. Manual Handling:

Provides training on safe manual handling techniques to prevent injuries, focusing on lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling tasks. It includes avoiding common musculoskeletal injuries, injury symptoms, manual handling principles, dynamic risk assessment, introduction to TILE principles, risk control, and manual handling techniques in various positions.

Course Goal

The goal of the course is to ensure participants can work safely and responsibly in various challenging environments. This includes being able to identify and mitigate risks, use safety equipment correctly, perform emergency procedures efficiently, and apply safe manual handling techniques to protect themselves and their colleagues.

Qualifications Obtained

Participants will receive certificates recognized by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) for each module: First Aid, Fire Awareness, Working at Height, Sea Survival, and Manual Handling. These qualifications are essential for those seeking employment or looking to maintain their position within the wind industry.

Confirmation of Course Completion

Participants will receive certificates upon successful completion of each module, recorded in the WINDA database. This ensures that employers can verify the credentials of their workers easily, maintaining high safety standards within the industry.

It should be noted that some companies may require special or additional certification to meet internal competence requirements. Vulcan Training strongly recommends checking competence/training requirements with the operator before booking a course with Vulcan. Vulcan can provide advice on general certification required in specific geographic regions, but there may be additional training requirements according to local or company-specific guidelines.
