Course description
Valid OPITO Initial Training Shipboard Operations Certificate or reassessment of an equivalent of OODTP standard (Ongoing Onboard Development and Training Programme).
- Valid Identification document
The certificate is valid for 2 years. Before the expiration date, the OPITO ERRV Crew Further Advanced Medical Aid Training (code 6135) course must be taken to keep the credentials valid.
Who is the Course Aimed At?
This course is designed for individuals currently working or planning to work as the Advanced Medical Aider (AMA) on an Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV).
Course Goal:
The goal of the ERRV Crew Advanced Medical Aid Training is to provide learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the role of an AMA on an ERRV, ensuring they can effectively respond to medical emergencies and manage casualties following offshore incidents.
Training Description:
The ERRV Crew Advanced Medical Aid Training covers five mandatory modules designed to prepare learners for the responsibilities of an AMA. These units include:
- Roles and Responsibilities of the Advanced Medical Aider - Understanding the duties and legislation relevant to the AMA role.
- Principles and Priorities of ERRV Medical Aid - Learning body anatomy and physiology, along handling various medical scenarios.
- Preparation for Reception of Casualties - Training in responding to alarms, directing the crew, and preparing for casualty reception.
- Triage and Treatment of Casualties - Practical skills for triage, treatment, and monitoring of casualties.
- Casualty Transfer (AMA) - Procedures for preparing casualties for transfer and communicating with medical units.
Qualifications Obtained:
Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive the OPITO-approved ERRV Crew Advanced Medical Aid Training Certificate.
Course Completion Confirmation:
To complete the course, delegates must successfully pass all theoretical and practical assessments for each unit. Records of these assessments will be securely maintained by the training center to ensure all criteria are met.
