Valid Identification document
The certificate is valid for 2 years. Before the expiration date, it is necessary to take the OPITO BASIC H2S TRAINING course to keep the credentials valid.
Who is the Course Aimed At?
This course is designed for individuals performing tasks involving potential exposure to hydrogen sulfide (H2S), in environments where it may be present due to the decomposition of organic matter. These locations include:
- confined spaces
- oil and gas fields
- sewer systems,
- sewage treatment plants
Course Goal
The goal of the course is to acquire basic knowledge of safety principles when working in an environment where there is a possibility of exposure to hydrogen sulfide (H2S).
Training Description:
Participants will gain knowledge of the physical and chemical properties of hydrogen sulfide (H2S), including its toxic, explosive, and corrosive effects. The course covers managing and preventing poisoning incidents. Delegates will practice responding to emergency situations and evacuations using escape sets and connecting them to the cascade system at the muster point.
Qualifications Obtained:
● Understanding of the physical and chemical properties of hydrogen sulfide
● Procedures for responding to an increased H2S concentration in the air
● Procedures for managing poisoning incidents
● Knowledge of different escape sets and personal protective equipment, including their proper use
● Knowledge of different H2S monitoring devices and their correct usage
Course Completion Confirmation:
The certificate is approved by the international organization OPITO and is recognized worldwide, authorizing individuals to work on offshore installations in the oil and gas industry.
