Training OPITO Banksman & Slinger Competence Assessment

Requirements
Note! As of March 1, 2022, OPITO introduced significant changes to the prerequisites required for training. Delegates must have:

Option 1
(a) Valid OPITO-approved initial training Banksman and Slinger Initial Training Certificate
and
(b) A fully completed and valid OPITO Banksman and Slinger Workplace Experience Logbook, along with documents for each of the 57 tasks*, such as a copy of the lifting plan, permit, or toolbox talk) based on the initial OPITO Banksman and Slinger training requirements for the Workplace Experience Log Standard and Banksman and Slinger. The logbook must be signed by the manager of the employing department or the manager of the employing company and confirmed by the training center before the assessment to prove its authenticity and validity.

- Documents are not required for delegates who completed the Banksman and Slinger Initial Training between February 29, 2020 and February 28, 2022.

or

(c) If a delegate completed the OPITO Banksman & Slinger Initial Training between November 1st, 2021, and November 30th, 2023: a filled and valid OPITO Banksman & Slinger Workplace Experience Logbook and documents confirming for all 19 tasks, such as lifting plan, permit to work (PTW) or Toolbox talk (TBT) according to requirements of Banksman & Slinger Initial Training Standard and OPITO Banksman & Slinger Workplace Experience Logbook.

The Logbook must be signed by the manager of the department or the manager of the hiring company and confirmed by the training center before the assessment to prove its authenticity and validity.

Option 2
(d) An OPITO-approved Banksman & Slinger Competence Assessment or Reassessment Certificate awarded within the last 30 months.

Option 3
(e) An equivalent qualification or certification from a nationally recognized awarding body, awarded within the last 30 months.

Note: after two years, the certificate loses its validity (see Note 1 below).

Note 1: Learners whose Banksman & Slinger Competence Assessment lub Reassessment Certificate expired more than 6 months ago will need to retake OPITO Banksman and Slinger Initial Training before attending Banksman & Slinger Competence Assessment lub Reassessment. In such cases, completing the Workplace Experience Logbook will not be required.

Validity Extension
The certificate is valid for 2 years. Before the expiring date it is necessary to complete the OPITO Banksman Slinger Competence Assessment or OPITO Banksman Slinger Competence Reassessment to keep the credentials valid.

Stage 1 - Initial Training
Stage 3 - Assessment
Stage 4 - Reassessment

Who is the Course Aimed At?

This course is designed for individuals who are working in lifting operations and supervising such work.

Course Goal

The goal of the OPITO Banksman Slinger Competence Assessment is to establish that the candidate has gained the required knowledge, understanding, and practical skills to work safely and effectively in the role of a banksman and slinger.

Course Completion Confirmation

This certificate is approved by the international organization OPITO.
