Shoulder Measurements are measurements of shoulder width. They are essential for adjusting the seating position after a passenger boards the helicopter. They also ensure safety by enabling a quick evacuation if necessary.
The shoulder width measurement available at Vulcan Medical takes place between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.
- you will need to take off your top garment to measure
or
- you can wear a sleeveless T-shirt or roll up your sleeves
It is recommended that you have your shoulder width measurement every 4 years, including the renewal of your BOSIET certificate.
After the measurement, your certificate will be available in your account in PDF format.
Shoulder Measurements is a precise measurement of the shoulder width required for safe boarding and comfortable seating in a helicopter. This measurement is a key element to ensure safety and quick evacuation in case of emergency.
Individuals with a shoulder width of 55.9 cm or more are classified as "Extra-Broad" (XBR), while those with a smaller shoulder width are classified as "Regular." Starting July 1, 2017, XBR passengers must be measured regularly. We recommend that the timing of these measurements be aligned with the expiration date of the BOSIET certificate.
