If you are planning to work on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, companies may require additional or specialized certification to meet internal competence standards. Vulcan Training strongly recommends checking competence/training requirements with the operator before booking a course.
As of October 18, 2022, one of the key Norwegian operators accepts only the 3-day OPITO BOSIET+CA EBS (Code 5750) with Escape Chute (Code 5770) completed at Vulcan Training, along with refresher FOET (Code 5850).
Please note that when selecting a training date, you are choosing the practical training day only. Before arriving at the center, delegates must complete all online training modules on the OPITO platform provided by Vulcan.

The certificate is valid for 4 years. Before the expiration date, it is necessary to take the OPITO FOET with CA-EBS course to keep the credentials valid.
Online theory + Practical Training at Vulcan
After booking and payment, delegates gain access to the e-learning platform with online teaching materials. Approximately 8 hours should be allotted for studying the materials and completing the test. This enables delegates to study the theoretical part of the course from home and reduces the time spent at the Vulcan center. Once the theory is completed, delegates will attend our training center for practical training only.
Who is the Course Aimed At?
This course is designed for individuals currently working or planning to work in the offshore oil & gas industry.
Training Description:
The course includes both theoretical and practical components. The theoretical part is conducted through an online educational platform, accessible from anywhere in the world. To complete the practical part, participants must attend our center for one-day training.
The course covers theory and practice in the following modules:
● Safety Induction: introduction to oil and gas exploration and extraction technologies at sea, workplace hazard identification, and risk management
● Helicopter Safety and Escape: emergency procedures and evacuation from a helicopter that has landed in the sea, including inversion and complete submersion underwater
● Sea Survival with First Aid: knowledge and skills covering individual sea rescue techniques and first aid.
● Fire Fighting and Self-Rescue: appropriate actions in a fire emergency and evacuation from smoke-filled areas.
● Use of CA-EBS (Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System): Practical training on the use of CA-EBS.
Qualifications Obtained
● Ability to identify general hazards specific to offshore oil and gas installations, understand the potential risks associated with these hazards, and learn how control measures are implemented to eliminate or mitigate risks
● Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures for offshore installations
● Demonstrate various sea survival skills and first aid techniques
● Knowledge in helicopter transport and emergency procedures, including helicopter ditching
● Demonstrate skills in using basic firefighting equipment
● Ability to evacuate from smoke-filled spaces
Course Completion Confirmation:
Upon successful completion, delegates will receive a certificate approved by the international organization OPITO authorizing them to work on offshore installations in the oil & gas industry.
